"Best Of" Album Release - 31st October

Best Of AlbumIt is always a difficult task to put together a "Best Of" listing as inevitably it will not please all tastes. In selecting these tracks I have tried to reflect as much as possible a balance between the different musical areas which I have covered over my solo projects, and also a balance between original self-penned material and some of traditional Gaelic and Runrig songs.

This type of project is very useful in defining a marker in time and, as I move on into the final stages of my next studio album, I take great pleasure in celebrating with you what has gone before in the knowledge that I am about to embark on another part of a journey, which will hopefully lead me towards finding a new musical landscape to explore............. Donnie Munro

Donnie Munro Band seeks new drummer

The Donnie Munro band are currently drummer-less after the current man behind the skins Dave Stewart found himself unable to keep up the demands made on his own time. Being a self employed musician Dave felt that he would be unable to guarantee his own availability to the Donnie Munro band. Donnie greatly regrets the loss of such a talented drummer who had worked with such names as Simple Minds, Deacon Blue, Blair Douglas and of course the Donnie Munro band over the last few years.

Donnie in the UK

To end any rumours regarding management surrounding Donnie, there is no truth in any rumour going around that David Ross is to act as a UK manager for Donnie Munro.

New Studio Album

Donnie - I have had tentative discussions with the record company about a future studio album and whilst much of the material is now in place, it looks like being a late spring/early summer release at the earliest.

There was some discussion about a live album but I felt that it was important to have a new studio album released first

Celtic Connections 2005

Sadly, Donnie has said he has no plans to appear at the 2005 Celtic Connections.

13/1/05 - Update - If you went to the Stirling concert last year and enjoyed the support act you maybe interested to know that Chaz and Vivien will be performing at the open stage event on the 23rd January as part of Celtic Connections. There are 5 acts between 5 and 7pm and somewhere in between them they will be doing a 20 minute slot.

Please contact the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall as times may vary.

Glasgow Hogmanay Party

Donnie will be the special guest at the Glasgow Hogmanay Party and will be performing at "The Bells" that old favourite"Auld Lang Syne" as well as a few other songs. For those of you unable to get along to Glasgow's George Square you will be able to listen to the party on Radio Clyde over the internet. Go to either www.clyde1.com or www.clyde2.com. I did ask Radio Clyde if it would be possible to include a sound sample from the party of Donnie, but they refused permission.

Susan wins M&S hamper at Donnie's Scotland The What Lecture

A few of our community members managed to attend Donnie's "Scotland The What" Christmas lecture in Edinburgh on Wednesday 15th December, 2004. For one member, Susan - the trip was made all the more worthwhile when she won the raffle prize and went home with a M&S food hamper. The hamper was presented to Susan by Donnie himself.
